Common questions

What bolt pattern does the Land Rover Discovery have?

The old body-on-frame Discovery 1/2 (1989-2004) used a heavy-duty 5×165.1/114.3mm fitment with M16×1.5 studs shared with the classic Defender; the clean-sheet Discovery 3 (2004) moved to a more modern 5×120/72.6mm/M14×1.5 pattern kept through the current Discovery 5. Check the table above for your exact generation, and confirm against a wheel or the owner's handbook before buying.

Will other wheels fit my Discovery?

Only wheels with exactly the same bolt pattern — bolt pattern has no working tolerance. The centre bore must also be equal to or larger than the hub (a larger bore just needs spigot rings). A different pattern needs bolt-on adapters, which also push the wheel outward and change the track.

What is the centre bore on a Discovery?

72.6 mm on the current car — earlier generations may differ, see the table. The bore is the hole in the middle of the wheel; it has to clear the hub spigot or sit on a spigot ring.

Bolt pattern is only part of fitment. The offset (ET) decides where the wheel sits in the arch — work that out with the wheel offset calculator. For tyre sizing on a new wheel width, use the tire size calculator.
