Common questions

What bolt pattern does the BMW X1 have?

The original RWD-based X1 (E84) is 5×120 on a 72.6 mm hub with M12×1.5 nuts. From the F48 (2015 on) the X1 moved to the FWD UKL platform and switched to 5×112 on a 66.6 mm hub with M14×1.25 bolts — the same change the 1 Series made at the same time. Check the table above for your exact generation, and confirm against a wheel or the owner's handbook before buying.

Will other wheels fit my X1?

Only wheels with exactly the same bolt pattern — bolt pattern has no working tolerance. The centre bore must also be equal to or larger than the hub (a larger bore just needs spigot rings). A different pattern needs bolt-on adapters, which also push the wheel outward and change the track.

What is the centre bore on a X1?

66.6 mm on the current car — earlier generations may differ, see the table. The bore is the hole in the middle of the wheel; it has to clear the hub spigot or sit on a spigot ring.

Bolt pattern is only part of fitment. The offset (ET) decides where the wheel sits in the arch — work that out with the wheel offset calculator. For tyre sizing on a new wheel width, use the tire size calculator.
